Where curling irons are allowed
Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Disney, MSC and Virgin allow curling irons with no extra conditions. Norwegian allows them if you use them with care. Celebrity allows them, but one of its pages says only certified low-wattage models.
Princess and Holland America are the two lines that don't mention curling irons. Ask them before you pack one.
Using a hot tool in a small cabin
Cabin vanities are small, and a hot barrel can scorch a counter or a towel. Disney is the one line that says what it provides: small heat mats in each stateroom for setting hot tools down.
On other ships, bring a heat-resistant pouch or mat if you have one, unplug the iron as soon as you're done, and never leave it on while you step out. Norwegian says security can hold any hair tool it sees as a hazard until the last day, so a tool in good shape matters.
Wands, hot brushes and other styling tools
Cruise lines name curling irons, flat irons and hair dryers. They don't list every styling tool. If yours is a curling wand, a hot brush or a heated rollers set, ask your line how it treats it.
Converters and outlets
MSC says curling irons may need a converter. Celebrity and Holland America cabins have both 110V and 220V outlets. Look at your iron's label before you go so you know what it needs.
